How To Start Each Day Happy

From the minute your alarm goes off, you have a decision to either hit snooze, moan and groan about the upcoming day or jump out of bed with a positive outlook ready to make today a good day! The way we start our morning effects the rest of our day and although there are a lot of things in life we can’t control, there are certain things we can all do to improve our overall happiness. Training your mind to be more positive can help you to make better decisions, focus on the good things that happen in your day and improve your overall quality of life!

1.Plan your outfit the night before

I know what you’re thinking.. How can this improve my happiness? But planning your outfit the night before saves a lot of time in the morning, giving you less reason to stress out! Aim to make it a part of your night time routine to put your pyjamas on, brush your teeth, lay out your clothes for the next morning, sleep! This saves all the stress from rushing around and not being able to find that one specific jumper. Its’ simply eliminating another thing that just might cause you to start your day off on the wrong foot! It might also help you to get out of bed if you're excited to put on the FAB outfit you’ve chosen!

2. Start the day with exercise

If you can face waking up an hour or so earlier (you might have time now you’re planning your outfits the night before) head to the gym or go on a jog! Exercise releases endorphins which is a chemical in our brain that helps to fight stress, trigger positive feelings into the body and cause an instant high! If you’re struggling to peel yourself away from your bed in the morning, try simply parking further away from work and walking the extra way in.

3. Be thankful

Studies have linked being grateful for what you have to long term happiness. Acknowledging all the things you have to be grateful for in your life each day will help you appreciate your blessings and be generally happier. Try getting into the routine of writing down 3 things you are grateful for before going to bed and you are sure to wake up in a happier more positive mood the next morning. Doing this will train your mind to look for the more positive things in your life rather than focussing on the negative - leading to a much happier mind!

4. Kick off the day with a nutritional breakfast a large glass of water!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and ensuring you are packing in your necessary nutrients and vitamins will give you the a well needed energy boost to tackle to day head on! Alongside your nutritious breakfast, be sure to have at least 1 large glass of water before heading to work. Studies have found that the greater your water consumption, the better your mood. Water increases your energy, relieves fatigue and helps to cleanse and detoxify the body. A nutritious breakfast and a large glass of water will start up your body systems and get your brain working!
