This means, the majority of your competitors are active on social media and this makes it more important than ever to up your social media game and set yourself apart from your competitors online! By ‘branding up’ your social media profiles you're ensuring your social media accounts are standing out against your competitors.

Keeping your branding strong and consistent across all your social media profiles is crucial to succeeding online. The majority of consumers today tend to use online media to research brands before they try it out. If your brand is not being represented the way you want it to be on social media, you may be loosing out on sales and it might be time to rethink your strategy and 'brand up' your social media profiles.

Keep reading for 5 simple ways you can do this:

1. Choose the right networks for you

Firstly, it’s important to choose the social networks that are relevant to you and your brand. This may mean completely ignoring some accounts you currently have that aren’t gaining any traction. It’s very tempting for brands to run accounts on every social media platform out there, but choosing the 3-4 platforms that most suit you and your target audience will be much more beneficial. By running too many social profiles you run the risk of losing the quality of the content you are posting which means your posts won’t be as effective in helping you achieve your goals. Aim to focus on making your few chosen profiles GREAT rather than 10 profiles mediocre.

2. Keep your branding across platforms consistent

Having your branding consistent across all your social media profiles will help people to immediately recognise your company, no matter what social platform they are using. If your branding is different on every platform, potential customers will be confused and struggle to connect with you as a brand. Simple ways to keep your branding consistent is to 1) Have the same logo on every platform, 2) Stick to the one colour palette and 3) Only share/post about certain, relevant topics to really solidify your brand image.

3. Develop a strong online voice

It’s important that your brand’s personality is reflected within your social media posts. This means developing a strong voice online by keeping the way you communicate on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc all the same! One way you can develop your online voice is to think about your company’s culture - What do you stand for? What are your beliefs? What are your aims? All of this will help you discover how you should converse with your audience. Another way to find your social media voice is to understand your audience and how they tend to communicate which will help you communicate to them effectively! For example, if your target audience are 15-20 year olds, you might participate in certain slang words that are currently popular. However if your target audience is 50-70 year olds, phrases such as ‘ ‘COUPLE GOALS’ probably isn’t appropriate and won’t be very effective…

4. Keep all your handles the same!

As soon as you decide to set up your first social media profile, go around to all the other platforms and see if your chosen handle is available. This is important as keeping your handles the same across all your social media platforms makes it much easier for your customers to find and engage with you. Even if you don’t plan on using a certain profile just yet, it’s always good to get in there and claim your name before anyone else does (plus you never know, you might just need it in the future!) Securing your handles is also great for SEO as when people search your company name, some of your profiles may pop up on the first page - and you obviously don’t want other peoples profiles that have stolen your handle to be popping up instead!

5. Write killer bio’s!

Don’t let your bio go to waste! Your bio is the perfect place for you to let your audience know who you are and what you do. This is your chance to really sell your business and grab the attention of your visitors, so include vital info & any links you want to direct people to such as your website where they can purchase your products or a link to your latest blog post.
