5 Easy To Make Office Snacks That You Will Love!
We all have those days were breakfast just wasn’t enough. Lasting the whole day without one snack can be a massive challenge, especially on the days you're drained of energy! Although snacking is often seen as a negative thing, it doesn’t have to be! If your snack is healthy and nutritious, it can provide you with a burst of energy in the middle of the day, when you need it most! It can also decrease your hunger and prevent you from over eating at meal time.
Typically, it’s hard to find healthy snack options in local shops/cafes. This makes it very easy to slip into the bad habit of snacking on unhealthy snacks throughout the day. So, we’ve put together 5 super easy, healthy snack ideas that you can whip up in the morning to prevent you from binging on them snacks that aren’t doing you any good!
1. Avocado OR banana on Rye bread or oatcakes
Take two oatcakes or a slice of rye bread and top with either half an avocado or a banana. Both avocados and bananas are loaded with potassium which helps support healthy blood pressure levels. Avocados are also full of healthy fats which can help lower bad cholesterol (as long as you eat them in moderation, so try stick to half an avo a day!)
2. Apple & nut butter
This one’s for the days you really don’t have any time, just grab an apple and some nut butter and away you go! This tasty snack will keep you filled up until lunch time and there’s a range of nut butters to choose from so you shouldn't get bored of it too easily! Whether it's peanut, cashew or almond butter you go for, just aim to make it a 'natural nut butter' as opposed to the regular ones as overall they’re a lot healthier and taste just as delicious!
3. Veggies & Dip
Whatever your favourite veggie (or whatever have left over in the fridge) slice it up and pair it with a tasty dip! You can use celery, carrots, peppers, cucumber, radishes… and homemade dips are super easy to whip up! Our personal favourite is a creamy guacamole, just whiz together half an avo, some lime juice and salt & pepper. Enjoy!
4. Kale chips
If you tend to crave savory snacks and always find yourself heading for the packets of crisps… this one’s for you! Kale is packed with nutrients and vitamins, is low in calories, high in fibre and has zero fat - making it the perfect mid day snack and a great substitute for crisps. Just simply remove the stems from the kale, drizzle with some olive oil, season with some salt and pepper and pop it into the oven until the edges are brown.
5. Energy balls
These bite size snacks will provide you with an instant shot of energy while satisfying your sweet tooth! Simply whiz together 100g rolled oats, 4 tbsp desiccated coconut, 2 tbsp ground flaxseed, 100g almond butter, 2tbsp honey and some dried fruit of your choice and mould the mixture into bite size balls. Store them in the freezer and take 1 or 2 with you to work each day! Your future (hungry) self will thank you!
