What to do if you're suffering from a social media rut

An epidemic is sweeping small business owners across the nation. Social media reach and likes are going down due to a bug called un-motivation. It comes and goes as often as the common cold and can last days to months. So here's what to do if you're suffering from a social media rut.

Firstly, let's run through how to know if you’ve been struck down by a social media rut.

Here are some common signs and symptoms:

1. You’re feeing un-enthusiastic about posting

2. You often say "But I don’t have time to post my own social media" (but you also maybe don't have the budget to pay someone else to do it for you)

3. You’ve run out of content and often scramble something together last minute

Does this sound like you?

Well luckily I’ve got just the prescription to get your groove back. Here are our tips that are hotter than British Summer Time:

1. Speak to someone

Whether you work with others, or you’re a freelancer, we always find a good brainstorm will get those creative juices flowing. Ask a colleague, employee, friend or family member to have a good look through your social media, then spend a couple of hours bouncing ideas about what kind of content to post.

2. Follow the 80/20 rule

Many experts say that you should follow the rule for posting of 20% promoting your business and 80% engaging your audience with stories, inspiration, and facts related to their interests.

3. Ask your clients and followers what they want

Often the best way of getting your groove back is asking your followers for ideas on what they would like to see. We often take topics our clients have asked us about and turn them into a newsletter or social mediapost. We even ask our followers what they’d like to see (which by the way you can email usinfo@sassydigital.co.uk)

4. Delegate

If you don’t feel you have time to run your social but you have the budget, then you may want to consider delegating to an employee, freelancer or agency. The benefit of working with someone who lives and breathes marketing? They can bring ideas to the table that you might never even have thought of, and they’ll have years of knowledge on marketing so you can sit back and do the things you’re best at!

If after following our tips you’re still feeling affected by this shocking epidemic...
