Should I build my website on Shopify, Squarespace or Wordpress?
It completely depends what your website is for and what features you require. We'd only recommend Squarespace for service based businesses. This is because it's not as easily customisable or adaptive as Shopify or Wordpress. There's no plugins, apps, and it's harder to customise the design with code. That said, it's a fantastic way of getting a professional and slick looking website for a reasonable price.
Shopify is a platform which is specifically aimed at businesses who have products to sell. All of their templates are built specifically to sell, and drive customers to checkout. Shopify templates can be customised with coding and also allows you to add apps meaning you can make your website your own! Many fulfilments centres will not work with Squarespace websites, they'll work with Shopify and other more customisable websites where you can add APIs (code that allows your website to speak to another app or your fulfilment centre)
Wordpress websites are completely customisable and allow you to have a bespoke website. They are significantly more expensive than a Shopify and Squarespace website, and this is due to the fact that we design and code these websites for you from scratch.
How much does it cost to build a website?
We have a variety of options for businesses of all sizes. As you know we want to try and help as many businesses as possible get themselves off the ground - so please get in touch with your budget, what you're looking for and we'll work out a suitable package just for you.
How involved will I be in the process?
You can be as involved as you like! Everyone has different levels of knowledge and creativity, and although we usually love website design to be a collaborative process so that you know and love your website from the start, we’re very happy to take your suggestions and ideas and turn them into the website you’ve always dreamed of...even if you’re not sure exactly what it is that you want!
How does the process work?
Once you instruct us, we’ll ask you to sign our T&Cs and we’ll invoice you for a 25% deposit that is payable on receipt. We’ll then give you a date for starting the website. By this point, we will already have agreed upon the type of website you require, but we’ll go into further detail by creating a site map so that the structure is clear. We’ll ask you for any and all of your photos, product photography, copy, logo, colours and fonts which you’ll place into a shared folder. We’ll then get started on a first draft!
You’ll have two rounds of revisions within the website draft, including on any bespoke page designs which we are doing for you.
How long will it take to build the website?
Depending on how busy we are, we can usually complete a website in as little as 2-4 weeks from start date. However, if you are in a hurry just let us know - we love working to a deadline!
What do you need from me?
We need the following things in order to build your website:
Branding - Logo and brand guidelines (fonts and colour) Photography
Copy (the text for each page, products, and prices for products)
Shipping, care and customer service information
Privacy and Cookies Policy (these are a legal requirement and your responsibility as a business to provide - we are not solicitors so unfortunately we cannot advise on this)
