5 Photo Editing Apps You Need To Improve Your Instagram Feed

With the quality of cameras on phones improving by the second, more and more people are starting to switch in their camera for their trusty IPhone. Let’s face it, the majority of us are addicted to our phones and having an amazing quality camera right at your fingertips makes capturing amazing images a hell of a lot easier.

The increasing popularity for IPhone photography makes editing your images even more exciting. What is an already amazing photo can be completely transformed into a masterpiece with a few simple editing tricks. However, with the thousands of editing apps available to us, it can often be hard to locate the best app for what you need.

But, you’ll be happy to know we did some research to pin down the 5 best editing apps available right now.

1. VSCO

If you’re not already using VSCO, you need to! This highly popular app is a brilliant all in one, It allows you to have complete control over your photos and completely transform an image. The app is free but you can purchase the upgraded version which gives you access to a lot more (and better) filters. We’d suggest paying the little extra for the extended version as you really do get what you pay for. Once you find your favourite filters/style of editing it will be really easy for you to create a coherent Instagram feed - something which potential followers find very appealing!

2. Enlight

Enlight is a really powerful editing tool. Whether you simply want to adjust a photo or get really creative and create a work of art, Enlight has it all! It combines a huge range of features within the one app which can sometimes make it tricky to navigate and fully understand how it all works. However, It has one of the best built in 'Help' features which you can access whenever you are using the app and need a bit of guidance - just swipe down from the top of the screen to access the help feature for whatever particular tool you are on.

3. Facetune

This app is for more than just perfecting your skin and whitening your teeth (although if you’re into editing your selfies, it’s amazing for that too!) But, we tend to use Facetune for editing food rather than faces. The app allows you to add detail to food, enlarge certain areas, clean up any spots of food on the side of a plate to really make the food POP! (Trust me it works wonders).

4. Afterlight

Afterlight is a simple editing app that is super easy to use, allowing you to create amazing, unique images in minutes! It comes with all the editing tools you would expect and need to edit an image, but where it really stands out from other editing apps is its range of filters - particularly the texture filters. The app not only allows you to choose from a wide range of filters, but you can stack them, add certain textures, tweak the image with the fine editing tools and export the photo in high resolution. On instagram a certain ‘look’ or ‘aesthetic’ that is becoming increasingly popular is the vintage/grainy look. Afterlight has a range of these textures available under the ‘dusty effect’ section which can really transform the look of a photo and help you create a consistent feed.

5. Touch Retouch

Touch Retouch is a great app allows you to easily retouch photos, letting you remove unwanted objects from your photos to make your photo look just how you want it. You can simply remove unwanted objects by ‘rubbing out the object’. Whether it’s an object in the background to make your photo look more clean, a splash of colour that doesn’t fit your theme or even people that you want removing, Touch Retouch allows you to do it all at the sweep of a finger!
